A domain is a fully qualified domain name account, such as yourname.com or yourbusinessname.com You can host one domain per account (this does not include sub-domains or parked domains). FTP (File Transfer Protocol) is a common method of moving files between two Internet sites or two computers. FTP is a special way to login to another Internet site for the purposes of retrieving and/or sending files. For instance, if you make changes to your website on your local computer, you would then 'upload' those files to your web server to become viewable on the web. The process your using to move the files between your computer and the web server is FTP. Some TH Media packages allow you to set up multiple FTP accounts. This comes in handy if you have multiple people updating your website. For instance, Tom could update the pages on the site, and Heather could upload the pictures she's taken.

Another example would be the many Internet sites that have established publicly accessible repositories of material that can be obtained using FTP, by logging in using the account name anonymous, thus these sites are called anonymous ftp servers.

Most of TH Media's hosting packages include the ability to add MySQL databases to your site. Please note that some of TH Media's account features require the use of a MySQL database (such as our built in forums). Using such add-ons counts towards your quota of MySQL databases.

SQL stands for Structured Query Language. SQL is an international standard in querying and retrieving information from databases. MySQL is essentially an SQL server - it responds to requests for information that are written in SQL. You can communicate with MySQL using a wide variety of programming languages (PHP being one of the most common). MySQL is Open Source software and free for use.

You can set up a domain name that you own to point to another domain name. This is known as "parking" a domain.
The Parked Domain Maintenance menu allows you to add and remove parked domains to your account. A parked domain allows you to reach your domain when entering the name of the parked domain into a browser. Any current domains that are parked will be listed under Current Parked Domains. For example, if domain2.com is parked on domain.com, going to http://www.domain2.com in a browser will bring up domain.com.

You can set up as many POP (Post Office Protocol) e-mail accounts as you require, up to your maximum limit. Each one of these is in the standard e-mail formation of This e-mail address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it . As with your default e-mail address, you can access these accounts through web mail or through your own offline e-mail application.

The Sub Domain Maintenance menu allows you to add and remove subdomains. Subdomains allow you to access different directories by using a domain name which you do not have to register. For example, if you want to access forums on your site, you can create forums.domain.com and link it to the directory that your forums are in. Any current subdomains will be listed under Current Sub-Domains.
